You are not alone
If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, it can sometimes feel like you are the only one feeling this way. You may feel lonely, lost, or even like a burden to others. But it is important to know that you are not alone. Every year, thousands of people in the Netherlands get help in dealing with thoughts of suicide.

According to 113 Suicide Prevention, the organization that helps people with suicidality in the Netherlands, they receive more than 100,000 contacts annually via their helpline and chat service. This shows how many people find themselves in a similar situation and have found the courage to seek help.
Suicidal thoughts are often the result of long-term pain, uncertainty or a feeling of hopelessness. But these thoughts do not mean that there is no way out. There is always hope, and there are always people who are willing to help. 113 Suicide Prevention offers anonymous, professional support via telephone, chat and e-mail. Your GP can also be an important first step, and by talking to someone, whether it is a confidant, friend or professional, you can start to process your feelings.
The figures from 113 Suicide Prevention show that there is always room for recovery. Thousands of people find new ways to deal with their emotions through conversations and therapies. You can do that too. If you feel like you can't do it alone, it's important to seek help right away. You have value, and your future is important.
