Talk about your feelings
If you are struggling with your own thoughts, whether it is just that you feel bad or that you can't seem to get rid of thoughts of suicide, it is important that you don't keep your thoughts to yourself, but share them.
You may think that you are a burden to everyone and that you are completely alone. If you think that, that thought can continue to reinforce itself. You may start to wonder what it would be like to be dead. Or who would come to your funeral service, for example? It is important to talk about these thoughts.

How people will react to your story is unpredictable. Not everyone can handle it well. For some, it can be very difficult to hear that you would sometimes rather not live anymore. But usually there are enough people you can tell your story to. So don't wait to start the conversation.
Family or friends: A good friend you trust can be a good first step. The fact that you are no longer walking around with a secret can already help enormously!
A confidant: This can be a professional, a pastor, youth leader or a mentor. Would you like to share your stories now? Share them via our contact form.
Talk to your GP: Sometimes the melancholic thoughts are caused by depression. Depression is an illness caused by a chemical imbalance and is usually treated with medication and/or therapy. Your GP can also help you find the right care provider.
